More Americans claim they receive more news about government and politics than any other of the four topics asked about in a survey conducted in March 2025 by Pew Research Center in a survey.

Results show that older Americans and those who voted in the 2024 election were more likely to receive political news. Younger people however, are more likely to get news about entertainment.

A majority of Americans (62%) say they receive news about government and politics often or extremely often.

The difference in age compared to the type of news they receive is prominent when it comes to news regarding government and politics. Americans age 65 and older, 77% receive this type of news extremely often or often, compared with half of those ages 18 to 29.

Similar stats were recorded between Democrats and Republicans. Nearly identical stats were taken, and both parties get news about government and politics, business and finance, and sports extremely often or often.

However, results show that Democrats are more likely or more frequently get news about science and technology and about entertainment.
