The 2026 Grammy Nominations are trending, but why? (View full Nomination list here) The recording academy has released the nominees for the 2026 Gram my Awards. The list has had people talking on social media about their favorite artists, what nominations they found surprising, and even which artists viewers think were snubbed. With award season just around the corner, what is all the buzz about for the Grammys? In the major categories, popular artists like Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, and Bad Bunny are nominated for multiple categories including Album Of The Year , Song of the year , and Record of The Year . They are up against competi tion with artists such as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.  Some nominations that have viewers talking is the category of Best New Artist .   Super Typhoon Fung-wong slams into Philippines, killing 2 and displacing 1 million (view original article here) The Super Typhoon Fung-wong hit the northeastern coast of the Philippines on Sunday, the storm had already left at least two people dead and forced more than a million people to evacuate from flood and landslide-prone areas. The typhoon blew into Dinalungan town in Aurora province Sunday night after dropping hard rain and wind in northeastern Philippine provinces all day from offshore, winds recorded of up to 115 mph and gusts of up to 143 mph. Fung-wong’s 1,118 mile wide rain and wind band, it is the biggest typhoon to threaten the Philippines in years. The typhoon came from the Pacific while the Philippines was still dealing with the damage brought on by Typhoon Kalmaegi, which left at least 224 people dead in central provinces on Tuesday before pummelling Vietnam, where at least five were killed. Although at first glance it may seem journalism is more involved in the realm of English, math and statistics are just as important to the overall picture. We see statistics everyday in our day to day life in different forms, but they are especially important in journalism.  Why is Numeracy important in journalism? Numeracy is a significant skill to have in journalism. When coming across a story or a study that is dominated by numbers, it is an important skill to be able to display these statistics for an audience in a concise and understandable way. While in some cases, dealing with a large amount of percentages and stats can be troubling, it is important that all the important data is getting out to a viewer so they can be kept informed to the best of everyone’s ability.  What should you be aware of?   More Americans get news about government and politics than about other topics (view original article here) More Americans claim they receive more news about government and politics than any other of the four topics asked about in a survey conducted in March 2025 by Pew Research Center in a survey. Results show that older Americans and those who voted in the 2024 election were more likely to receive political news. Younger people however, are more likely to get news about entertainment. A majority of Americans (62%) say they receive news about government and politics often or extremely often. The difference in age compared to the type of news they receive is prominent when it comes to news regarding government and politics. Americans age 65 and older, 77% receive this type of news extremely often or often, compared with half of those ages 18 to 29. Similar stats were recorded between Democrats and Republicans.
